Is Dental Tourism in Costa Rica Safe? 7 Things to Check

Short answer: it can be, if you check the right things before you book. This is the checklist we would use ourselves. It applies to any clinic, including ours.

The 7 things to check

  1. Who exactly will treat you? Ask for the name and license number of every dentist involved, and confirm it with the professional college.
  2. Sterilization. Ask what is used and see it. Our clinic uses an autoclave plus a plasma sterilizer.
  3. A lab on site. When something needs adjusting, an in-house lab lets it be fixed the same day. Ours has a sintering furnace and does zirconia finishing on site.
  4. A written plan before you fly. You should receive your treatment plan, a personalized written quote and an estimate of the number of visits before you book flights.
  5. Honest answers, including “no.” A good clinic tells you when a treatment is not the right answer for your case.
  6. Follow-up after you go home. Ask what happens if something needs attention after you fly.
  7. Real patient feedback. Look for video testimonials and independent Google reviews, not only quotes on the clinic site. See ours on the reviews page.
